Friday, April 30th, 2010

Buying a new vehicle may seem like a daunting task, but follow a few simple guidelines and it’s no longer the burden

Who has not passed an auto dealership and seen ‘the’ vehicle; the only one for you, or so it seemed at the time? However that vehicle you want must pass your rigorous standards–after all it is your bank account and safety that is at stake.

Here are a few tips to help you drive away in a vehicle you are passionate about yet does not put you in the red.

Online venues like Web sites, Social Media, and blogs are invaluable for your research. Many dealerships incorporate videos of vehicles under their brand showing a 360 of the vehicle as well as vehicle stats. If the dealership does not offer this, check the brand’s Web site.

Your vehicle is a home away from home and auto engineers design them with that idea offering the newest technology available. With this in mind, make sure not to rush your decision making.

Now that you have gathered your data, and know the car that is right for you at this time in your life, drive to the dealership for a test drive. Have a list of the options or features that you’d like to see demonstrated or explained. The sales staff will be excited to help you when they see you’ve done some homework and ready to drive your new car home.

In order to make the purchase process simple and fast, simply call the dealership to find out if the year, make, model and trim is in stock if you don’t see it on the website. By taking these steps prior to arriving at the the dealer, you’re not only going to have a smoother experience, but you’ll be setting the pace for those who don’t wish to be sold on a particular vehicle.

Sunday, April 4th, 2010

The GMC brand, which offers customers trucks, vans, and SUVs now offers the 2011 Sierra Denali HD, using for the first time the Denali line on of the heavy-duty 2011 Sierra 200HD and 300HD trucks. Previously only used on trucks in the light division, the Denali nameplate is synonymous with luxury. Customers will find the new 2011 Sierra Denali HD at dealerships early summer, 2010.

GMC’s 2011 Sierra HD’s new 6.6L Duramax turbo diesel grants 397 horsepower (296 kW) at 3,000 rpm and 765 lb.-ft. of torque (1,037 Nm) at 1,600 rpm. Towing capacity has also been upped at: (20,000 lbs. / 9,072 kg) and payload (6,335 lbs. / 2,873 kg). This great towing capability is supported by all-new frames and strong suspensions.

According to GMC, the 2011 Sierra Denali HD independent suspension offers “25-percent increased front axle rating and superior control under all conditions.” While the ‘short-long arm torsion bar front suspension’ was kept, new features were put in by engineers like forged steel upper control arms made of materials that are stronger but lighter. Owners living in climates with heavy snow falls can opt for the ‘snow plow package’. These are available for all 4WD cab configurations.

Here are a few details about the front/rear end suspension:

*All-new lower control arms are built from cast iron (precision-machined)
*Five torsion bar rates support five front gross axle weight ratings
*Trim height is adjusted on each bar via a single bolt
*New frames and larger rear leaf springs allow greater strength designed to support greater loads

Customers that buy the 2011 Sierra Denali HD need a vehicle that will get the job done but they want their office away from the office to give them all the options available to get the job done and with creature comforts not lacking. GMC realizes this and the independent front suspension grants a comfortable ride plus so much more in one workhorse of a truck.

Chevrolet Reveals the Compact 2011 Cruze Eco

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

A new model recently entered the compact segment of the auto industry compliments of Chevrolet. Introductions were made at the New York International Auto Show and the ‘Eco’ in the model name: Cruze Eco hints to the consumer the 2011 Cruze Eco may be: eco-friendly for the economy minded.

Chevrolet’s Cruze Eco will be available to purchase the later part of 2010. The MSRP is not known yet, however, Jim Campbell, U.S. vice president of Chevrolet marketing does give this away, “The Cruze Eco delivers hybrid-like efficiency without the price tag.” Chevrolet has offered many other details.

The 2011 Cruze Eco is a compact–housing a 1.4-L turbocharged Ecotec engine delivering 138 horses and 148 lb.ft. of torque. The new compact achieves 0 to 60 in 10 seconds using a manual transmission and in 9 seconds when put to the test using an automatic transmission.

Chevrolet estimates that the Cruz Eco will get 40 mpg highway when equipped with a six-speed manual transmission and offers the owner an estimated 500 miles of driving freedom between fillips. Competitively speaking this should put Chevy Cruze Eco on top in the compact segment industry-wide in fuel economy. Chevrolet also suggests that the Ecotec turbo can offer more power upon need; however, the four cylinder small displacement is sufficient during routine drives.

GM media reports that The 2011 Chevrolet Cruze Eco is the big brother of many Chevrolet small/compacts to come that will offer consumers “excellent fuel economy, outstanding quality and top safety ratings.” Chevrolet will build the Cruze models to be sold in the U.S. and Canada at their plant Lordstown, Ohio.

Chevrolet engineers worked to grant the consumer better fuel economy not only under the hood but also worked on aerodynamics, weight control, and worked to alleviate rolling resistance. GM media suggests this is how some of the areas were addressed:

*Lower front grille air shutter closes at higher speeds improving aerodynamics and opens at lower speeds optimizing engine-cooling airflow

*Lower front air dam extension, extensive use of underbody panels and a rear spoiler enhance aerodynamics
